Grand Theft Auto 6 release date
YouTube channel The Know claims that publisher Take-Two wants to release GTA 6 in 2022. It is probably one of the last games for the current generation of consoles, however, the game will most likely also appear for the PlayStation 5 and the next generation Xbox. The expectation is that the next generation of consoles will be launched in 2020 or 2021 .
Analyst Michael Pachter is of the same opinion. In an interview with Gaming Bolt , Pachter said he thinks an announcement in 2020 with a release in 2021 is the best scenario, while an announcement in 2021 with a release a year later is more likely. In the meantime, Take-Two will continue to focus on GTA Online and Red Dead Redemption Online.
What we know so far about GTA 6
We know that Rockstar has started the development of GTA 6, although the project is probably still in the initial phase. In an interview with Develop Magazine, Rockstar CEO Leslie Benzies said: "We don't know what GTA 6 will be, but we have some ideas."
"We have about 45 years of ideas that we want to do," he added. “We will choose the right one. First coming out of the idea. Where will it take place is the first question. That defines the missions; for example, you do different things in LA than in New York or Miami. The map and the story are made simultaneously and the story is a basic stream of how it works, so you can organize the mission, "says Benzies.
A recent rumor suggested that GTA 6 will take place in two different locations: Vice City and South America. We know Vice City as Rockstar's view of Miami, but players will also leave for South America a few times this time for a number of missions. GTA 6 would therefore be referred to as Project Americas at Rockstar. The story in Grand Theft Auto 6 would for the first time revolve around a female protagonist, whereby it is unclear whether, just like in GTA 5, players can switch between multiple characters.
