Samsung Galaxy S9

The Samsung Galaxy S9 will probably be launched in the first quarter of 2018. The device is said to be again equipped with an Infinity Display that covers almost the entire front. In addition, there is talk of a new location for the fingerprint scanner, a dual camera at the rear, improved face recognition and some new colors. The Galaxy S9 is the flagship of Samsung and that means you can be sure that the Android smartphone is equipped with the very best hardware.

We will continue to update this page with the latest rumors until the moment of the Galaxy S9 unveiling. If you want to know when the Galaxy S9 is launched, what the device will cost, what changes have been made, then you have come to the right place. Samsung has not yet released any information about the S9 series, but the necessary details have already been leaked in recent weeks.

Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 +

Samsung has been releasing two versions of its flagships since 2015 and we expect that this will also be the case next year. The Galaxy S9 series is an evolution of the Galaxy S8 series and according to the latest rumors, the screen size therefore remains unchanged. Users can choose from a 5.8-inch Galaxy S9 and a 6.2-inch Galaxy S9 +.
It is presumably again an Infinity Display with an aspect ratio of 18.5: 9 and a resolution of 2960 x 1440 pixels, although Samsung will undoubtedly have improved the image quality and brightness. Recent rumors have suggested that Samsung has made the lower bezel smaller, which means that the Infinity Display covers 90 percent of the front. The ratio of the Galaxy S8 comes out at around 84 percent.

There would also be some surprising changes coming. Telecom insider Evan Blass claims that Samsung is planning to differentiate the specifications of both smartphones more from each other. The S9 + would be the only one with a dual camera, while the regular model will be equipped with a single 12-megapixel camera. It will not stop there, by the way, because the S9 + gets 6GB of memory and the S9 has 4GB on board. Furthermore, the Galaxy S9 would for the first time have stereo speakers tuned by AKG.
Both models have 64GB of storage space with a microSD slot, a 3.5mm headphone connection and a USB-C connection. Finally, Samsung comes with a new DeX docking station for the Galaxy S9 and S9 +. This will be compatible with the Galaxy S8, S8 + and Note 8. The main difference is that the phones can be laid flat and the screen can therefore be used as a touch pad or a virtual keyboard when an external display is connected.

New location fingerprint scanner Galaxy S9

The fingerprint scanner of the Galaxy S8 was placed to the right of the camera module and the company was criticized. Since then we have heard a lot about a fingerprint sensor that would be integrated into the screen, but according to a recent report, the technology would not be ready in time. Samsung would like to make another attempt to get the technology ready in time for the Galaxy Note 9, which will be released in the second half of 2018.
Leaked schematic drawings of the Galaxy S9 + show that the fingerprint scanner has been moved due to criticism. The images show a double camera that is placed vertically with the oval-shaped scanner underneath. Leaked renders from the Galaxy A5 and A7 (2018) show the scanner in almost the same location, making it easier to unlock the device because the scanner is positioned in the middle.

Exynos 9810 for European Galaxy S9

The launch of the Galaxy S9 will take a while, but in the meantime, Samsung has announced the Exynos 9 Series 9810-soc. This chip will be found under the hood of the European Galaxy S9 models and the Snapdragon 845-soc from Qualcomm will be used for the other regions.
Samsung announced that the Exynos 9810 is being produced on a second generation 10nm process from the company. According to Samsung, this 10-second meter LPP (Low Power Plus) process ensures that the new chipset is 15% more efficient or 10% better. The design consists of the internally designed M3 Mongoose cores (third generation), probably in combination with an ARM Mali-G72 gpu. ARM claims that the Bifrost architecture provides a performance gain of 40% compared to the G71 of the Galaxy S8 series.
The Galaxy S9 also gets a new LTE Advanced modem (Cat.18). This modem can download 12 streams of 110 MB / s at the same time, which means a maximum bandwidth of 1.2 Gb / s. There is support for 6CA, which means that six frequency bands can be merged. Information about the uplink has not yet been published.

Buy Samsung Galaxy S9? Release date and price

The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 + may be shown to the world for the first time at CES in Las Vegas in early January. It is still unknown how much information will be released, as Samsung is said to still have plans to officially unveil the phones in March at the next Unpacked event.
