PS5: Sony says it will be backward compatible with more than 4,000 PS4 games

The PS5 will be backwards compatible in the long term with the more than 4000 games of the PS4, says Sony in a press release. PlayStation chief system architect Mark Cerny said in the middle of last week that around 100 PS4 games would be available at launch.

PlayStation A PS4 DualShock 4 controller

In the middle of last week, Sony and Microsoft each held a streaming event around their next console. Sony got the ball rolling with a very technical presentation from the system architect responsible for PlayStation, Mark Cerny. At the turn of this inventory, to say the least, the engineer still revealed some information that may interest the general public. He notably said a little more about the backward compatibility of the console.

And it must be said that it is rather a cold shower: while for several weeks we expected that the PS5 offers a vast backward compatibility to the titles of the PS1, Mark Cerny did not even bother to talk about backward compatibility beyond the PS4. And again, to say that at launch a hundred PS4 games would be compatible on PS5.

A few hours later, during its presentation Xbox Game Live, Microsoft evoked, him, always a vast backward compatibility until the games of Xbox 360. Suddenly Sony published just before the weekend an "update" on this subject, in which we learn that in reality the backward compatibility of the PS5 with PS4 games will ultimately be almost total.

The entire PS4 catalog available, boosted frequency
"With all of these awesome games in the PS4 catalog, we have made significant efforts to ensure that our fans can play their favorite games on PS5," said Sony, adding "We think the overwhelming majority of the 4000+ PS4 titles will be compatible with PS5 ". But Sony doesn't stop there.

In the rest of its press release, the manufacturer explains that backwards compatible titles will run at a boosted frequency on PS5 so that they can benefit from a higher or more stable number of frames per second and potentially with higher definition. " For this to be possible, however, the manufacturer must test each title.

"We are currently evaluating the games individually to identify any problem that requires an adjustment in relation to the original development efforts", we can read in the rest of the press release which concludes by returning to the presentation of Mark Cerny, almost apologizing for having only mentioned a hundred games: “in his presentation, Mark Cerny provided an overview by evoking the top 100 of the most played PS4 games, which demonstrates how our efforts to backward compatibility in the common sense ".

"We have tested hundreds of titles and are preparing to test thousands more as we approach the launch. We will update you on backward compatibility, as well as many more PS5 news, in the coming months, ”concludes Sony. What do you think of what is looming for the backward compatibility of the PS5? Forget the PS5: the Xbox Series X will be the real star of backward compatibility

The PS5 will not ultimately be the champion of consoles for backward compatibility. Microsoft announces that all Xbox One games and all games backward compatible with the current iteration will also be with the Xbox Series X.

Xbox

Tense smiles, empty room, your monotone and overdose of very technical details ... the presentation of the characteristics of the PS5 by Mark Cerny, the chief system architect at Sony, has both taught us a lot about aspects useful to developers and not much on the side of what the console will really be for players.

With one exception, and that wasn’t really good news. While for weeks there seemed to be widespread backward compatibility with PS1 games, we learned instead that "almost" all of the most popular PS4 games would be compatible with the launch of PS5. Without mentioning previous generations.

Backward compatibility: Microsoft persists and signs
If it is still too early to draw conclusions about the proportion of games actually available at launch, this is, from the start, a very big disappointment. Who could end up playing Microsoft's advantage. It is that there is still a constant at the Redmond firm: its speech on the backward compatibility of the Xbox Series X. In a blog post dated March 16, the firm repeats that its console will be compatible with "des thousands of Xbox One games but also Xbox 360 games and original Xbox games. ”

And to add that these games "will play even better on Xbox Series X". Microsoft also did not promise full backward compatibility, since at no time did the company use this term. But at least seemed to be making an effort to keep not only many popular titles up to the first generation playable on the Xbox Series X - the focus was not only on compatibility with the immediately newest iteration.

However, a new twist: as if to respond to the mole of the apparent efforts of backward compatibility of Sony, Microsoft announced yesterday on the official Xbox account that "all the games which are already backward compatible" with the current generation will be with the Xbox Series X "plus all Xbox One games," adds Microsoft. It is therefore now official: the PS5 will be much less backward compatible than the Xbox Series X. The score is therefore for the moment 2-0 for Microsoft if we add the fact that the Xbox Series X will be more powerful in raw power than the PS5, in any case until the next meeting!

GTA IV is finally back on Steam… without multiplayer

GTA IV has made a comeback on Steam, along with its DLC. Unfortunately, this victory comes at a price. The publisher Rockstar Games had to temporarily give up on multiplayer and online leaderboards.

Last January, GTA IV suddenly disappeared from the Steam store. Amazement, misunderstanding, terror (maybe not good) among players and fans of the fourth episode of the franchise. Rockstar gave the explanation for the sudden withdrawal to US Gamer magazine a few days later.

“GTA IV was originally designed for the Games for Windows Live platform. Microsoft no longer supports Games For Windows Live, it is no longer possible to generate additional keys necessary for the sale of the current version of the game. We are studying other options regarding the distribution of GTA IV on PC and we will share more 'Information as soon as we can,' said Rockstar Games in the columns of US Gamer.

Two months later, the studio has obviously found a solution since the title and its two extensions, The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony, are again available on the Steam store. However it is no longer possible to buy the game and its DLC separately, it will be imperative to get the Grand Theft Auto IV: Complete Edition.

However, to bypass the end of Games For Windows Live support and allow the title to return to the store, the publisher had to make concessions. Unfortunately, multiplayer modes, online leaderboards and some FM radio stations will be temporarily disabled. Regarding a return to normal, Rockstar has not yet given a potential date. What motivate players of the fourth installment to migrate to GTA 5 and its paid transactions? Too early to say.

Comparison PlayStation 5 vs Xbox Series X: which is the most powerful of the consoles?

Between the Xbox Series X or the PS5, your heart rocks? You still don't know which console to choose? If it is too early to pass a judgment between the two consoles, there is already a match that we can organize: that of the power. Let everyone put on their box gloves, the match begins ... Let's go!

Xbox Series X vs PS5 power comparison
That's it, it's done: Sony has unveiled all the technical specifications of its PlayStation 5. Microsoft, meanwhile, did it a little earlier in the week for its Xbox Series X. So we have all the cards in hand to organize a face to face between the two consoles. Play your games, nothing is right: between the Sony PS5 and the Microsoft Xbox Series X, which of the two consoles wins the power match?

PS5 and Xbox Series X specifications

PS5 vs Xbox Series X: the most powerful is not necessarily the best
First of all, it should be noted that this is a comparison of the two consoles, focusing on performance only. Of course, we are aware that the war that the two machines will wage will also be played out and above all on many points: the richness of the toy library, the exclusive content of both, their backward compatibility, their price , their environment, the Cloud Gaming offer (why not?) or the controller (an element that we very often forget, but which is very important).

In short, it is not a question of determining which is the better of the two consoles, on the one hand because neither of them is currently available, and on the other hand because, even if they were, it would be far too early to get a real opinion. A console enriches its offer and its toy library over the weeks, and not only as soon as it is released. We saw it for the Nintendo Switch, which initially had only a handful of really interesting titles, but which saw its offer expand considerably, to become today one of the most acclaimed consoles in the history of Nintendo.

CPU: Xbox Series X is more powerful than PS5, but there is a catch
Both Sony and Microsoft consoles use an AMD Zen 2 custom 8-core processor. This is the same architecture that is currently found on Ryzen 3rd generation PC processors. However, that of the Xbox Series is clocked at 3.8 GHz, when that of the PS5 is 3.5 GHz.

Furthermore, the use of CPU resources differs from one console to another. According to Microsoft, the processor frequency of the Xbox Series is set to 3.8 GHz for games based on a single core. This same frequency decreases slightly and goes to 3.66 GHz when an application exploits several cores in multithreading mode.

xbox series x

For its part, the PS5 processor operates at a variable frequency, depending on whether a game requires more CPU or GPU resources. The two chipsets adjust and support each other continuously. In this way, they should allow better heat dissipation to provide constant power, and that is rather a very good point. But the fact remains that, on paper, the PS5's CPU runs at a lower frequency than that of the Xbox Series X.

GPU: advantage to Xbox Series X
Again, the two machines are based on the same architecture. In the case of the PlayStation 5, it is an AMD RDNA 2 with variable frequency, which can reach 2.23 GHz. The GPU benefits from 36 CUs (Compute Unit) and benefits from a processing power of 10.28 TFLOPs.

Xbox Series X RDNA 2

If we look at the Xbox Series X datasheet, we find this: an AMD RDNA 2 GPU clocked at 1.825 GHz. The frequency of the chipset is therefore less than that of the PS5. Does this mean that the Xbox Series X will be poorer in terms of graphics power than its competitor? Not really. Because the Microsoft console has 52 CUs (16 more than on the PS5) and a computing power of 12 TFLOPs.

Clearly, the Xbox Series X more than compensates for the lower frequency of its GPU by a higher number of CUs and slightly higher computing power. As the Kotaku website points out, the GPU of the PS5 is equivalent to a Radeon RX 5700, when that of the Series X is close to a Radeon RX Vega 56. And in most conditions and with almost all games, the RX Vega 56 is more efficient than RX 5700. Advantage is therefore given to the Xbox Series X.

AMD RDNA2

Memory: no big differences

Between the two consoles, there are ultimately very few differences in the level of RAM used. On the one hand, at Sony, we are entitled to 16 GB of GDDR6, a 256mb bus and a bandwidth of 448 GB / s.

At Microsoft, it is also 16 GB of RAM that equips the console and a 320mb memory bus. 16 GB RAM breaks down as follows: 10 GB supporting a speed of 560 GB / s on one side (mainly dedicated to the GPU, which needs a huge processing capacity), and 6 GB at 336 GB / s on the other (for audio and small ancillary operations).

Storage: advantage to PS5
If storage and access to data could seem to be a secondary data until now, it could well play a fundamental role on Next Gen consoles. Both Sony and Microsoft have succumbed to SSD, which provides much faster speed than a conventional hard drive.

In the case of the Xbox Series X, we take advantage of a custom NVME SSD of 1 TB. It offers a transfer speed of 2.4 GB / s in RAW mode (uncompressed data) and 4.8 GB / s in compressed mode.

Xbox Series X SSD

For the PS5, we are dealing with an 825 GB SSD. Admittedly, its capacity is less than that of the Series X, but the SSD of the PS5 offers a much higher speed. Sony announces a data rate of 5.5 GB / s in RAW mode and 8 or 9 GB / s in compressed.

The SSD of the PS5 will therefore be twice as fast as that of the Series X, it is a fact. How can this happen in video games? Even if Sony has not yet revealed everything about its console (we are still waiting for a real demo), we can imagine that the games will load faster and that the latency times between each level are extremely reduced, or even that it there are no more at all.

PS5 SSD

And what about additional storage? Here, it's a little more complex to issue an opinion. On the one hand we have a proprietary system at Microsoft: small 1 TB keys to plug into the back of the Series X. Adding a storage medium is therefore super simple, but you will need to acquire a storage certified by Microsoft. At Sony, it will also be possible to expand the storage capacity of the PS5. The good news is that the operation is performed using a traditional M.2 SSD. The bad (for the less geeky, of course) is that you'll have to open the console to install it. Difficult to decide between the two consoles on this point, each with advantages and disadvantages.

So which is the more powerful console of the two?
If we refer to the technical specifications pure and hard, it is undeniable that the more powerful of the two consoles will be the Xbox Series X, no offense to fans of Sony. But as said in the preamble, the match will be played anyway on different fields, such as the price, the toy library, etc. On the editorial side, opinions are divided: some are impatient for the PS5, while others (they are fewer, but just as passionate) praise the Series X. And you what do you think? Do not hesitate to share your discussions with us by posting a small comment just below.

Call of Duty: the next episode would take place during the Vietnam War and the Cold War

The next episode of the Call of Duty series will change scenery. A leaker reveals that the scenario will take players around the 1960s, during the Vietnam War and the Cold War. No more conflicts in modern times. In addition, the same source says that zombie fans will be delighted.

call of duty warzone solo

Call of Duty news is rich this week. On the one hand, Warzone, the Battle Royale of Modern Warfare, has this week a single player mode for all those who have not yet found a squad or who, like Rambo, are self-sufficient. Recall that Warzone has been available for just over a week on PC, Xbox One and PS4. And on the other hand, new information has been released about the upcoming Call of Duty which Activision currently calls "Call of Duty 2020".

The Twitter account "The Gaming Revolution" has published several information about the next installment of the license which is scheduled for release this year. This account, which regulars of leaks and rumors about the series know well, reveals that this future game will not take players into the heart of modern or future conflicts, as was the case with the last Modern Warfare, big success from last year, or Black Ops 4. The theater of operations will be located in the past, as for Call of Duty - WWII.

Already a small video to get an idea
The jump in time will not be as important, however, since the scenario would be based on the Vietnam War and the Cold War. Either between the 1950s and the 1980s (the Vietnam War started in 1955 and ended 20 years later). A short video was also posted on Twitter, which would show a little gameplay of the next Call of Duty with a prefabricated atmosphere and slightly less futuristic weapons than previously.

Some small additional information has been disseminated by the leakers in charge of The Gaming Revolution. First, manual healing would return. Then they claim that the zombies should also reappear. This obviously recalls Black Ops 4, an episode developed by Treyarch who would also be in charge of this new album. Finally, new operators would be planned. It remains to be seen whether all of this is true.

The latest beta of WhatsApp introduces a self-destruct feature for private messages, like Snapchat. We have known for a few months that Facebook is working on such a feature, but it only concerned group messages. Explanations.

WhatsApp

p should soon be enriched with a new practical feature: self-destructing messages after a predefined time by the user. The announcement of this feature last October had aroused the enthusiasm of many users. But we learned a few weeks later that it would appear more in the form of a group message cleaning tool on WhatsApp.

WaBetaInfo, always on the lookout for modifications made in the beta of the application, has just identified a new change. In updates 2.20.83 and 2.20.84, WhatsApp beta has reintroduced self-destructing message functionality for individual conversations. WatBetaInfo has just released screenshots showing how this will work when the feature is activated.

A new "Delete messages" menu will be accessible when you open the profile of one of your contacts in WhatsApp. You will have the possibility of configuring the automatic deletion of messages for the selected profile by choosing a delay between 1 hour, a day, a week, a month or a year. A clock icon will then appear next to each message you send as a reminder of its self-destruction after the chosen time.

WhatsApp

WhatsApp is getting a little closer to SnapChat by adopting one of its iconic features after the Stories a few years ago. For users, ephemeral messages are good to take since they help strengthen the privacy options of WhatsApp only a few months after the arrival of the fingerprint unlock. For the time being, the functionality is not yet active. Unless there is a turnaround, this should be the case for everyone in the coming weeks.

Google Translate is now able to transcribe your conversations in real time

Google has just added functionality to its translation application that should appeal to those who regularly attend conferences in another language. Google Translate is now able to transcribe conversations or long speeches in real time. Google Translate Automatic Transcription

Google Translate

Until now, it was already possible to speak and have Google Translate transcribe your words. However, this feature was not suitable for long discussions, conferences, etc. The update of the application now has a specific module dedicated to the translation and transcription of all your dialogues in real time. And the other good news is that this new feature is now available in the following 8 languages: French, English, German, Spanish, Hindi, Portuguese, Russian and Thai.

How to activate real-time transcription in Google Translate
It's easy to access this new feature. First, make sure you have the latest version of Google Translate for Android (the application is called Google Translate in its French version). The most recent update may not yet appear on your account, as Google plans to deploy it as of the end of the week. From the home screen of the application, select the source language and the target language. Then press the transcription button and speak. The translation then appears immediately, regardless of the length of the statement and the sometimes difficult conditions in which the speech is held.

Google doesn’t plan to stop there. "We will continue to make oral translations available in various situations," said Sami Iqram, Google Translate product manager, in a statement. For now, the transcription feature will work best in a quiet environment with only one person speaking at a time. In other situations, the app will do its best to deliver most of what is said. "

The feature is currently only available for Android, but should soon be available to iPhone users. Google has not yet communicated an availability date on iOS.

PS5: Sony finally reveals all the technical characteristics of its console

Sony has just unveiled the full PS5 spec sheet during its highly anticipated conference. Its NextGen console promises a big leap forward in terms of performance. Its custom GPU based on AMD’s RDNA 2 architecture promises a gross computing power of 10.28 TFLOPs. We take stock of all the characteristics.

At a PS5 conference broadcast live today, Mark Cerny, the chief architect at PlayStation, talked up and down about what fans can expect from the new console. After several months of speculation, we finally know the full data sheet for the PlayStation 5.

Unmatched transfer speed for a console
For starters, Mark Ceny spent a lot of time on switching to SSD storage and the huge performance boost that results. Sony has designed a homemade SSD controller with a 12-channel interface for this. The company promises a transfer speed of more than 5 GB / s with an almost instant loading time. As a comparison guide, it takes 20 seconds for the PS4 to load 1 GB of data where the PlayStation 5 will require less than a second to load 2 GB of data: only 0.27 seconds to be more precise.

PS5 SSD speed

The SSD will also allow more efficient use of RAM memory. The loading times will be all the more reduced as there will be no need to load a lot of data into the RAM. The system can do this from the SSD if necessary.

PlayStation 5: 10.28 TFLOPS AMD RDNA 2 GPU
We already knew that Sony will be relying on a custom AMD APU again. On the one hand, the PS5 has an 8-core Zen 2 CPU clocked at 3.5 GHz. The GPU as far as it is concerned is based on the RDNA 2 architecture which is compatible with ray tracing for an ultra-realistic simulation of light and shadow effects. The graphics chip consists of 36 computing units at 2.23 GHz (variable frequency) and will be able to deliver a gross computing power of 10.28 TFLOPs, almost 2 less than the Xbox Series X and its 12 TFLOPS.

PS5 CPU and GPU

The whole is supported by a 16 GB GDDR6 RAM memory with a bandwidth of 448 GB / s. Finally, the PS5 has a free slot to accommodate an NVMe SSD to supplement the standard storage capacity of 1 TB. Sony is also announcing support for external hard drives via a USB port. The PlayStation 5 is also equipped with a 4K Blu-ray player to accommodate physical games.

Sony had already announced a lot of details on the PS5 that it has just confirmed. The console will be technically capable of handling definitions up to 8K and will allow in particular to shoot games in 4K at 120 fps. There is also talk of a 3D audio system for immersive sound, which allows players to fully commune with their games. Finally, backward compatibility with the PS4 is also part of the game, as is a low-consumption mode that will save energy.

A revolutionary 3D audio engine
Let us dwell a little on the sound part. With the processing power of the PS5, Sony has invested in a new engine for 3D audio called Tempest Engin. The latter is capable of emulating hundreds of sound sources to produce a very realistic suround effect. The player will feel like the sound is coming from hundreds of different directions.

For example, when it rains in a game, you will feel like you can hear the sound of water tasting in all directions, creating even more impressive immersion. For comparison, the PlayStation VR, which is designed for the immersive experience of virtual reality games, emulates only 50 different audio sources.

Hint Rockstar Games to Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) in South America?

This year is all about the next generation of consoles, but gamers are eagerly awaiting Grand Theft Auto 6 . Rockstar Games has not yet officially announced GTA 6, but the developer may have already started giving subtle hints to one of his existing games.
Hint Rockstar Games to Grand Theft Auto 6

In Grand Theft Auto 5 an advertisement was found for a smuggling company Six Figure Temps, which operates from Central and South America.
The
Six Figure Temps website links to the Rockstar website. Because of the references to drug smuggling and South America, fans are wondering if this is a nod to the next Grand Theft Auto, which would take place at this location. In addition, 'Six' in Six Figure Temps would be an indication of the release of GTA 6.
An 'insider' announced last year that Grand Theft Auto 6 will take place in North and South America. The map in the game would be so large that you can also travel by plane. This source claims that the game has been under development since 2013 and the domain name was also registered in the same years
The latest rumors suggest that GTA 6 will be announced in the course of 2020 and released a year later, although previous games from Rockstar Games were postponed several times to perfect the end product. GTA 6 is likely to appear for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. A version for the PC is expected at a later date.

Grand Theft Auto 6

Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) has not been officially announced yet, but on this page we will keep you informed of the latest rumors and news about the game. Grand Theft Auto is one of the world's largest game franchises, and while GTA Online still has a reach of millions of players, it has been five years since we were able to get started with a new storyline for the first time. The wait is therefore for GTA 6, although fans of the genre can also get started with Red Dead Redemption 2 later this year.

Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6)

Everything about GTA 6

Little information has yet been released about Grand Theft Auto 6, but we have done our best to list all the information for you. This article will be continuously updated when new information about GTA 6 is published.

Grand Theft Auto 6 release date

YouTube channel The Know claims that publisher Take-Two wants to release GTA 6 in 2022. It is probably one of the last games for the current generation of consoles, however, the game will most likely also appear for the PlayStation 5 and the next generation Xbox. The expectation is that the next generation of consoles will be launched in 2020 or 2021 .
Analyst Michael Pachter is of the same opinion. In an interview with Gaming Bolt , Pachter said he thinks an announcement in 2020 with a release in 2021 is the best scenario, while an announcement in 2021 with a release a year later is more likely. In the meantime, Take-Two will continue to focus on GTA Online and Red Dead Redemption Online.

What we know so far about GTA 6

We know that Rockstar has started the development of GTA 6, although the project is probably still in the initial phase. In an interview with Develop Magazine, Rockstar CEO Leslie Benzies said: "We don't know what GTA 6 will be, but we have some ideas."
"We have about 45 years of ideas that we want to do," he added. “We will choose the right one. First coming out of the idea. Where will it take place is the first question. That defines the missions; for example, you do different things in LA than in New York or Miami. The map and the story are made simultaneously and the story is a basic stream of how it works, so you can organize the mission, "says Benzies.
A recent rumor suggested that GTA 6 will take place in two different locations: Vice City and South America. We know Vice City as Rockstar's view of Miami, but players will also leave for South America a few times this time for a number of missions. GTA 6 would therefore be referred to as Project Americas at Rockstar. The story in Grand Theft Auto 6 would for the first time revolve around a female protagonist, whereby it is unclear whether, just like in GTA 5, players can switch between multiple characters.

GTA 6: screenshots and trailers

GTA 6 has yet to be announced and therefore no images of the game are available yet. Rockstar Games usually remains secretive about its projects, so we will have to deal with rumors until the announcement.

The PS5 will be revealed much earlier than expected, on February 5, 2020!

The PS5 would be revealed much sooner than one would think: February 5, 2020. A monster leak reveals what could be its date of market launch, its price, as well as information on its marketing, its technical sheet , backward compatibility and much more.

ps5

One would have thought that Sony would continue its strategy of small steps to build up pressure around the upcoming arrival of the PlayStation 5. The new console from the Japanese manufacturer could actually be presented much earlier than expected. In fact, it may even overshadow another tech event: the presentation of the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Fold 2 / Bloom / Z Flip (help us, we're lost!).

To believe a leak unearthed on 4Chan by the Dutch site Techtastic, Sony has well kept the secret around its plans. What is going on is first a presentation event on February 5, 2020. A little less than a week before the presentation event for the S20s and other Galaxy… foldable. The leak specifies that "the design of the console, controller, interface, certain functionalities, technical data sheet […] and the exclusives will be shown".

The PS5 will be sold € 449
Buzz words around the console include "little to no loading time", "super-fast downloads", "immersive controls", "modular game installation, download what you want", "disc player included", and "download games, or stream optional games". The placing on the market on the console would take place in October 2020. Its price would be fixed at 449 €. Only one model would be available at launch - so there won't be a Pro version, at least initially.

It would be available for pre-order immediately in some regions. The leaker claims that performance will be roughly equivalent to that of the more expensive Xbox Series X model, which would be offered a hundred euros more expensive than the PS5. The Sony console would deliver 10 teraflops while the cheapest Xbox would be around 4 teraflops. The leaker doesn't stop there and explains, for example, that Sony is going to bet a lot on PlayStation Now - with subscriptions included for every console purchase.

Finally the site contains information on backward compatibility. The leak confirms that the games of the 5 generations of PlayStation (PS1, PS2, PSP, PS3 and PS4) will be compatible with the console. This will be particularly simple for games purchased on PS4. The DualShock 4, PSVR and other PS4 accessories will also be compatible with the PS5. Finally a word about its design: the mainstream console would not look at all like the developer kit whose photos have been around for the past few weeks.

The site notably includes the image at the end of the article. Of course all this information remains to be confirmed, but it smells very very good anyway!

PS5: Sony says there are still many features to discover

The PS5 has not yet revealed all of its secrets. In any case, this is what Jim Ryan, the CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, asserts in an interview given to our colleagues from Business Insider Japan. According to the boss of Playstation, there are still many new features to discover, which he also considers as the "biggest differences" that set the PS5 apart from previous Sony consoles.

Jim Ryan, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, gave an interview for our colleagues from the Business Insider Japan site. It was obviously about the Playstation 5, and the Playstation brand in general. During the interview, the official said that the future home console has "unique features" that separate it from previous Sony consoles, and that these unknown features will soon be revealed to the public.

Unique items to come
"Each time a new console is launched, the processor and graphics improve. These improvements are attractive of course, but we must also have specific attractions. We have already confirmed the use of an SSD. Having loading times close to zero is a major change. 3D audio and haptic feedback from the controller are also things that when you try them will surprise you.

Just playing a racing game like Gran Turismo Sport with a PS5 controller is a completely different experience. But be aware, there are several unique elements of the Playstation 5 that we will communicate later, which distinguish it from previous consoles. "The biggest differences" have yet to be announced, "said Jim Ryan.

Before the official presentation of the console, which is likely to take place during E3 2020, we can only speculate on these "unique" features mentioned by Jim Ryan. Latest revelation in date concerning the PS5, the presentation of the official logo of the console at CES 2020 by Mr. Ryan also. A logo very close to that of the PS4, not to say almost identical.

The haptic feedback described by Jim Ryan had actually been revealed by a patent filed by Sony in November 2019. We also learned that the controller of the PS5 greatly resembled the DualShock 4 with however a USB-Type C and no LED bar. In addition, Gran Turismo the car racing game dear to M.Ryan will be present at the launch of the PS5, to highlight precisely the new capabilities of the DualShock 5. As a reminder, the release of the Playstation 5 is scheduled for the November 20, 2020 at a price of € 499.

PlayStation 5: backward compatibility to PS1 planned since 2012

PlayStation 5 could be backwards compatible with games from all previous PlayStation. This rumor is taken up by a youtubeur who explains that Sony has had this project since 2012, when the Japanese firm took Gaikai. It also confirms that the PS5 will be able to modulate the resolution of games as needed.

PlayStation 5

playstation 5 sony console faster world
The PlayStation 5 will arrive this year. Much information has already been published about it. One of the latter even evokes the power of its graphics chipset, created by AMD. Power which would reach 9.6 teraflops. Either 6.5 times what the PlayStation 4 GPU is capable of producing. A power available to development studios, whose returns are rave to say the least, and players, who were all relatively surprised by the trailer for Godfall, the first game formalized for PlayStation 5.

If the power of the machine has been widely discussed in teasers, interviews and rumors, another feature of the PlayStation 5 is much talked about: backward compatibility. According to rumors, this would not only concern PlayStation 4 games, but all games since the first generation of PlayStation released 25 years ago (this anniversary took place only a few weeks ago). Whether in disc version or download. This crazy rumor, which has been around since October, was revived this week by the American youtuber HipHopGamer.

An 8 year old project
According to the latter, who would take his information from a long discussion with some people who participated in the development of the console, especially at AMD, the project of backward compatibility until the first PlayStation is not recent. It dates from 2012, when Sony acquired the game streaming service, Gaikai. It served as the backbone for PlayStation Now. But Sony especially wanted to bring together all generations of console in one. Finally, streaming will not be the technology that will make this idea a reality.

In his video, posted on the Google streaming platform and available below, he reiterates the information unveiled this fall: backward compatibility, the engine of "remastering" (to dynamically improve the image of games, even the most old), anti-aliasing and even customizable resolution, in order to adapt the image quality according to the content and the screen.

He also explains that the visual improvement engine for games would be as efficient as improved versions of old games (like Devil May Cry Collection), without the need for redevelopment. The comparison is even more striking with backward compatibility at Xbox: for an Xbox 360 game to work on the Xbox One, Microsoft is reworking the latter, one by one. Here, the engine would remove this entire preparatory step. Time to win.

PlayStation 5: Sony teases a presentation on January 6 at CES 2020

The PlayStation 5 could be presented at CES 2020. Sony is meeting us on January 6 for a special event dedicated to "its unique vision of the future". The firm maintains the mystery around the identity of the product which will be revealed there, but all eyes are turned to its future console.

Sony could unveil PS5 at CES 2020
Sony has just confirmed its presence at CES 2020. The company invites the press to a conference to be held on January 6, the day before the show opens. "Sony will unveil its unique vision for the future, combining creativity and technology like never before, to unleash new feelings and emotions," the company said in a summary statement posted on its site. Everything suggests that we should learn more about the PlayStation 5, a few weeks after the presentation of the competing Xbox Series X.

PS5: Sony prepares a surprise for CES 2020
The mystery surrounding the content of the conference gives free rein to all forms of speculation, but the words used are suggestive clues. "Unique vision of the future", "new sensations and emotions", there is little doubt that the PS5 will be one of the flagship subjects addressed during this special event. Microsoft took everyone by surprise by unveiling the design of the Xbox Series X in mid-December. This no doubt prompted Sony to review its plans.

Usually, the firm formalizes its new consoles in two stages. A first conference in February is devoted to the full technical sheet before the actual presentation in June, on the occasion of E3 as was the case for the PS4 in 2013. Failing to discover the design of the future PlayStation 5 at CES, Sony could unveil the flagship specifications and features of its NextGen console sooner than expected. But for now, the suspense remains intact.

Sony PlayStation 5: Performans, Tasarım, Oyunlar, Fiyat, Çıktı ... Gelecek Nesil Konsol Hakkında Bildiğimiz Her Şey

PERFORMANS: ULTRA HIZLI SSD DEPOLAMA
2019 yılının başından itibaren Sony, PlayStation 5 ve özellikle teknik özellikleri hakkında bilgi vermeye başladı.

Bu nedenle PS5'in aşağıdaki bileşenleri entegre edeceğini biliyoruz:

PS5 kontrolörünün bundan faydalanacağı an için hiçbir şey gösterilmez.

PLAYSTATION 5'DEN ÇIKIŞTA?
Sony, PlayStation 5'in 2020 tatil sezonu için piyasaya sürüleceğini doğruladı.

Mesela The Last of Us: Part 2 ya da Tsushima Hayaletini düşünüyoruz.

PS5'in geliştirme kiti

PlayStation 5'in nasıl görüneceğini henüz bilmiyoruz, ancak geliştirme kitinin tasarımının ticarileştirme için saklanmayacağı neredeyse kesin.

PS5 HANGİ FİYATA SATILACAK?
Sony, PlayStation 5'in fiyatının cazip olacağına söz verdi.
